Oyebanji appoints, former NAWOJ Chairperson, Fatima Bello as Board Member

The Ekiti state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has appointed the immediate past chairperson of the state chapter of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Mrs Fatimoh Bello as a member of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.A former chairman of the Ekiti state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Chief Laolu Omosilade was also appointed as the chairman of the Board of the State-owned media outfit, the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES).The NUJ and NAWOJ while expressing appreciation to the governor on the gesture, described Oyebanji administration as media friendly.This is just as the State chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr Quazeem Oladapo was also appointed as a member of the Ekiti State Sports Development Trust Fund.In a statement by the NUJ State chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, O’seun Ogunsakin thanked Governor Oyebanji for appointing members of NUJ into critical and relevant offices; saying that the appointment of Omosilade as the chairman of the Board of BSES where he had retired would bring more development to the media corporation” as he would deploy his wealth of experience in moving the corporation forward.”Babatuyi equally noted that the appointment of Bello who is a devoted muslim and Oladapo who is a well-known sports journalist is putting the round peg in a round hole.Also a statement by the NAWOJ Chairperson,Mrs Adewumi Ademiju described the appointment of Mrs Bello as” a testament to women and girl Child development agenda of Oyebanji’s administration “.The NUJ Chairman, Mr Kayode Babatuyi who further said he was not surprised that Gov Oyebanji had appointed his members into very important positions added that “the governor has been a very good friend of the media and has penchant for appointing the right set of people into government.”While congratulating the new appointees, the Union chairman charged them “to continue to be good ambassadors of NUJ and use their expertise in helping the governor to deliver on his promise to shared prosperity to Ekiti people.”The NUJ reiterated its support for the government in ensuring that its policies and programmes are given adequate publicity.
