The Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, Ganiyu Obasanyi has called on government to come to the rescue of his people following an overnight flood which had rendered many of them homeless.
Report from the community says a cross section of residents of Oke Osun area of Ikere Ekiti were sacked by flood which occurred after the river in the area over flew its bank due to the yesterday’s down pour.
Speaking with Newsmen after visiting the spot of the incident, Obasanyi expressed worry over the level of damages which he blamed on poor drainage system.
He said the situation was not the first time, as it was becoming a regular incident each time it rains urging government to find a lasting solution to it.
Olukere sympathized with victims of the incident which he said was devastating.
Some of the victims including, Mr Bright Adesoye, Mr. Ajakaye Mr Tayo Adebayo, Mr. Kayode Micheal, Mr Gbenga Ojo, Mrs Ester Ojo and Mrs Emily Awe said they lost all the had to the flood urging government to support them.
