Operation Keep Ekiti Clean: Waste Management Authority Commences 15-Day Night Operation during Yuletide

In a strategic move towards ensuring a clean environment during this festive period in Ekiti State, the State Waste Management Authority has commenced a 15-day night operation.

The Director General of the Authority, Mr Sunkanmi Onipede, who made this known to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, explained that the exercise, which was to complement the routine job of officers of the waste management, would also prevent epidemic in the State.

He said the fifteen days Night operations was approved by Governor Biodun Oyebanji to make sure that residents of the state celebrate Christmas and New year in clean environment as he urged traders at different markets in the state not to display their products on the road and maintain clean environment.

Mr Onipede emphasized that the latest initiative by the Authority is geared towards keeping the State clean owing to the influx of people into the State during the festive holiday.

The DG explained further that the festive holiday would also lead to an increase in waste that will be generated, especially in the State capital.

He seized the opportunity to call on residents of the State to dispose their waste properly in the Dino bins provided by the administration of Biodun Oyebanji.

Also, he noted that these are part of the efforts of the State government to prioritize the healthcare and well-being of its citizens by ensuring that the State is clean to attract more developments.

The Director General wished the residents of the State a hitch free celebration and warned that anyone caught dumping refuse in unauthorized places like drainage, waterways, road median, among others, will be severely dealth with.
