Normalcy has returned to Iyana-Iba, Alaba Rago and Ojo areas of Lagos State, Nigeria where there was disagreement between some commercial motorcyclists on ticketing as well as increment in tariff on Monday.
The Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi who made this known in a statement noted that, security had been beefed up in those areas and by extension, in the state in general.
According to Mr. Adejobi, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu has ordered for immediate deployment of additional operatives to the affected areas to maintain law and order.
The PPRO explained that, Area Commander, Area E Festac was also directed to personally be on ground to monitor the situation and invite leaders of the affected commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada Riders unit for an urgent meeting.
He enjoined members of the public, especially those around Iyana-Iba, Alaba Rago and Ojo areas to go about their lawful businesses saying the police had taken necessary steps to ensure adequate security of residents.
The spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command used the avenue to debunk the rumor that the disagreement was between some ethnic groups, adding that the incident has no ethnic colouration whatsoever, but a mere conflict between transport unions members on ticketing and increment in tariff.
