Okada Ban; Delta police insists on enforcement.

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police says it will go ahead to enforce the ban on Commercial Motorcycle operators, popularly called Okada, as directed by the state government.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bright Edafe, said the ban on Commercial motorcycle operation is real.

He warned Okada riders to put their bikes away adding that the Delta State Government has ordered that any bike impounded would be crushed.

Edafe made this known via his social media handle on Sunday, the 9th of June, 2024.

He tweeted, “The enforcement of the ban on motorcycles popularly called Okada is serious and that’s exactly how we take it.

The ban is real, so it’s better you carry your bike and lock it somewhere because Edafe Bright cannot help when it is impounded. The directive from the State Government is to crush them all.”

The Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, in Asaba, made the announcement banning the operation of commercial motorcycle, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by the governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to Emu, the ban on Okada was necessary due to the increase in crime committed with Okada and the frequently reported cases of vandalism.
