Traditional Rulers have been charged to carry out their roles with fear of God in the interest of unity, peace and tranquility in their domains.
The Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi Fayemi gave the charge at the presentation of Staff of Office and Instruments of Appointment to Obaleo of Erinmope Ekiti in moba local Government, Oba Dr Aikuirawo Sunday Aniyi held in Ado Ekiti.
Governor Fayemi represented by his Deputy Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi explained that the position of Oba called for perseverance and understanding, and said his administration would not tolerate any action or act that could cause disaffection in the state.
He pointed out that the selection of Obaleo of Erinmope Ekiti, Oba Aniyi was devoid of any political coloration and congratulated the king for ascending the throne of his forebears.
Dr Fayemi said that government would continue to accord the needed respect to the Traditional Rulers, Chiefs and assured the people of more welfare programmes to meet their yearnings.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary Bureau of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Gboyega Morakinyo called on the Residents of Erinmope Ekiti to support the new monarch to bring even development to the community.
In his acceptance speech, the Obaleo of Erinmope Ekiti, Oba Dr Aikuirawo Sunday Aniyi appreciated the people of Erinmope Ekiti, Chiefs and Ekiti State Government for the opportunity to serve them with a promise to do them proud.
Oba Aniyikaye however called on the aggrieved people in the town to sheath their swords and join the train of development in Erinmope Ekiti.
The monarch who pointed out that development of the town was a collective responsibility of sons and daughters of the town, promised to devote his time and resources for the meaningful development in Erinmope Ekiti.
