Nigeria @ 64: Be Active Participant in Nation Building, Gov Adeleke Urges Nigerians

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged Nigerians to be active participant in re-building the country, stressing the need to have hope for a greater future.

Governor Adeleke made the call in his address tagged “Celebrating Unity, Progress and our Collective Vision for Osun state”, at the 64th Nigeria Independence Day Celebration at Osogbo City Stadium, Osogbo Osun State.

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye noted that through unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment, Nigeria has overcome obstacles that seemed insurmountable and propelled the nation towards a better tomorrow.

“On this Independence Day, we reflect upon the journey of our nation since attaining sovereignty on October 1st, 1960. We remembered the struggles, sacrifices, and the unbreakable spirit that have brought us this far. Today, as we celebrate, we also look to the future, filled with hope, aspiration, and the determination to make Osun State a beacon of excellence within our nation”.

Governor Adeleke urged Nigerians to remember that the progress of the nation is linked to the success and well-being of the youth, therefore, it is the duty of all stakeholders to provide them with quality education, opportunities, and support they need to thrive and lead the nation to a greater heights.

In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade said for Nigeria to develop, there is need to embrace economic and political reforms.

Alhaji Akinbade, a former Secretary to the State Government, called for training bright, devoted and hardworking leaders who have clear visions and missions and the capacity to run the nation for the good of all citizen

Earlier, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Dr. Bahir Salaam had noted that it was imperative to celebrate the developmental achievement recorded in the critical sectors, including Health, Infrastructure, Security and Agriculture by successive administrations since Nigeria Independence.

Highlights of the Independence celebration is the march past by students in Primary and secondary schools, associations and groups as well as presentation of gifts to winners of the debate on Nigeria at 64 and march past.
