As part of continious efforts to discourage road side trading, Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has inuagurated a new shasha market, located around Agric Olope in Ado Ekiti.
At the ceremony, Dr Oyebanji appealed to road side traders to take advantage of the market to sell their goods instead of making use of illegal stands which could be very dangerous in case of accident.
She expressed the hope that the market would complement others within Ado Ekiti and change the economic temperature of the environment for positive development.
She however appealed to the people not to blame the current naira crunch and fuel scarcity on the ruling party in Nigeria, noting that it was a phase that would definitely end soon.
The Governor’s wife therefore sought for traders votes towards the emergence of All Progressives Congress candidates in the coming general elections, saying that it would translate to execution of many developmental projects from state capital to the grassroots.
In a remark, the chairman Ado-Ekiti local government, Chief Bosun Osaloni gave assuarace that goods at the market would be relatively cheap and advised traders not to abandon the facility.
Also the wife of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Eyesorun Abosede Adejugbe commended the state government for putting in place necessary facilities that could make the new market functional.
She thereafter called on the Iyaloja and market men and women to take up their stands and stalls for immediate use.
while urging the people to patronize the Market, the representative of the Hausa community, Mr Kazim Amodu called for unity of purpose among traders irrespsctive of their tribe to promote the functionality of the market.
The ceremony was witnessed by political office holders, Local government officials, representatives of different ethnic groups among others.
