…..call on government to make Ekiti Parapo Ido Ekiti, legacy institution.
Worried by moral decadence in schools, the Chairman, Ekiti Traditional Council of Obas and Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Oba Ilori Faboro wants Elders and Royal Fathers to always move round educational facilities to assist in instilling morals and discipline in students.
The Monarch stated this at the Seventieth Anniversary of establishing Ekiti Parapo College, EKPOCSA, Ido Ekiti, organized by Old Students Association.
According to Oba Faboro, the presence of Elders and Traditional Rulers in schools would go a long way to assist teachers in controlling the students because a lot of things have become deteriorated as far as education is concerned in the county.
He regretted that so many parents refused to give adequate training to their children hence such ill mannered behaviours were brought to school and therefore influence others.
Oba Faboro who is the royal father of the day at the seventieth anniversary however commended the Old students of Ekiti Parapo College for coming together to contribute their quota to the advancement of the school.
Contributing, the Special Adviser, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery in the state, Dr John Ekundayo said government would continue to do its best to ensure morals and discipline among students as well as learn in conducive environments urging the old students not to relent at giving back to the school.
In a remark, the National President, Ekiti Parapo Old Student Association, Mr Dotun Adekanbi said the establishment of the school in 1954 was premised on historical 16-year Ibadan/Ekiti parapo war, and to also bring sons and daughters of the state together to enjoy education.
He therefore appealed to government at all levels to support old students of the school to make the academic facility a legacy institution by ensuring morals and discipline as well as restoring the glory of the school through the renovation of all its dilapidated structures.
The event featured Anniversary lecture, Launch of EkPCOSA website, Road Naming, Awards to outstanding members of old students Association for their contributions so far, part of whom are, the Director International Press Centre, Mr Lanre Arogundade, Former Ido/Osi Council boss Mr Sola Ogunsina, Former president of the Old student Association, Professor Ayorinde Ogunruku, among others.
