Nigerians have been enjoined to always go for medical check-ups for early detection and treatment of sickness capable of causing sudden death.
Chief Medical Director of Unique Consultant Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Doctor Taofeek Yekeen gave the advice at a free medical outreach organized by Ibadan Elites Ekiti State, IBEES at the state capital.
Doctor Yekeen noted that regular check-ups would revealed killer ailments such as hypertension and diabetes, noting that unchecked blood pressure could lead to hypertension while unchecked blood sugar could lead to stroke.
The Medical Doctor noted that blood pressure should be checked once in three months, while blood sugar test should be done twice in a year to enable early detection and treatment of any deficiency before leading to serious damages.
Dr. Yekeen however advised any woman above 18 years to also go for cancer screening, saying doing such once in three years would reveal their status and help do the needful.
In a remark, the President, Ibadan Elites Ekiti State, Dr. Adebola Agbaje who charged anyone above forty years to avail themselves of regular check-ups, said the medical outreach was organized to improve the health status of IBEES members and other beneficiaries.
Scores of people benefited from the free medical services which centres on blood pressure and blood sugar.
