Lagos CP orders total enforcement of 12am to 4am curfew.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered all men of the Force in the state to enforce all protocols, highlighted by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Mr Odumosu instructed the officers to enforce the 12am to 4am curfew imposed by the PTF as well as ensure the total closure of night clubs, bars, lounges, event centres, among others.

This was contained in a statement titled, ‘Enforce All Covid-19 Protocols, Supervise Your Men For Effectiveness” issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, as churches plan to hold crossover services tonight December 31, 2020.

Mr Adejobi said the said the commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu gave the order while addressing Area Commanders and DPOs at the Police Officers Women Association, POWA Hall, Oduduwa, Ikeja.

He reiterated the need for residents to use face mask regularly at public places (markets/malls), social distancing, total closure of night clubs, bars, lounges, event centres, no social party, street carnivals, use of infrared thermometer to check body temperature, sanitisers, as the command would ensure total enforcement of the imposed curfew between 12 midnight and 4am.

Mr Odumosu ordered all Area Commanders and DPOs to ensure due enforcement in their jurisdictions across the command; noting that COVID-19 is real and everything possible would be done to halt its spread.

He however warned policemen in the state against “incivility, drunkenness, excessive or misuse of power, accidental discharge, extortion and other inappropriate behaviours” in the New Year, noting that “anyone found wanting will be seriously sanctioned within the ambit of the law”.

The CP also urged the public to be law-abiding, support security agencies for effective policing of the state and stay safe at all.
