Igangan Killings: Governor Makinde Calls for Calm as Government Beefs Up Security

By Oluwaseyi Akanbi

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has condemned the killing of about twenty residents of Igangan in Ibarapa Local Government Area by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.

In a statement on his official Twitter handle, the Governor said the grusome killing of innocent citizens was inhumane and a sin against humanity.

“I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. I am currently being briefed on the incidents”.

“I urge residents to remain calm as security operatives are now in control of the situation” Governor Makinde said.

Gunmen had yesterday invaded Igangan community, killing about twenty people and leaving many injured with several houses burnt.
