HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BEGINS INVESTIGATION INTO SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMME IN EKITI

The House of representatives has commenced investigation into the activities of Federal Govt Social Investment Programme since inception and intervention schemes in tertiary institutions in Ekiti State.

The Chairman of the House Public Accounts sub- Committee, Mr Taofeek Ajilesoro who Represents Ife Central North South Federal Constituency at the national assembly said the action was not to witch hunt any personnel but to check their records for proper documentation.

The lawmaker told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that the committee would visit the institutions assisted with FG TETFUND intervention to see how such funds were being spent on projects that could have direct impact on the students.

Answering questions on time frame for the investigation the Mr Ajilesoro noted that the agencies and institutions involved were properly notified contrary to speculations that they were caught unaware.

He however expressed the committee concern over the inconsistency in some of the reports presented to its by the concerned agencies and asked them to put their house in order.

The four member sub-committee during its first session in Ado Ekiti scrutinized some federal government intervention Scheme being executed in Ekiti State such as N-power, Conditional Cash Transfer, home grown school feeding Programme, sustainable development goals,Govt enterprises and empowerment programme, Transition company of Nigeria and intervention projects in State tertiary institutions across the state.
