Unknown gunmen have attacked the Elewu of Ewu Ekiti, Oba Adetutu Ajayi during a transit between Ewu and Ayetoro Ekiti.
The monarch who was shot around seven o clock yesterday had been taken to an hospital for treatment.
Confirming the incident, the Ekiti state police public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu said despite the rigorous joint patrol, raiding of blackspots and combing of bushes/forests by the Amotekun Corps, Vigilante Groups, Local Hunters, Chiefs, Drivers Union, Motorcycle Riders, Farmers and other Stakeholders carried out across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State which was aimed at dislodging and apprehending the miscreants in their hideouts as directed by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, some unknown gunmen mischievously defiled the operation, came out and attacked the the monarch
He gave an assurance that the perpetrators would be brought to book, saying that Ekiti State Police Command would continue to work with relevant security outfits, Ministries, Stakeholders and Organizations to ensure that criminality is brought to zero across the State.
The command wished the Elewu of Ewu Ekiti a quick recovery and implored anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and other criminal elements in the society to inform the nearest police station or call 08062335577.
