A sum of five hundred thousand Naira and mattresses have been given to each special school across Ekiti State inorder to meet parts of their needs.
The schools are: Government Special school of Intellectual Disabilities and physically challenged, Ido Ekiti, Government Special school for the deaf, Ikoro Ekiti and Government Special school for the blind, Ikere Ekiti.
Presentating the gift items at the schools, Governor Biodun Oyebanji said the donation was burn-out of compassion towards ensuring the well-being of students living with disabilities in the state.
The Governor’s who was represented by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji said the initiative was also to ensure on-the-spot accessment of the schools’ facilities and to know the welfare status of the special students.
He therefore encouraged the students to reciprocate the love and kindness of the present administration by being obidient and pay more attention to their education.
Governor Oyebanji therefore charged teachers and other workers of the schools to continue to show love to the students, promising that there would be regular visit to them most especially on birthday celebrations.
In a remak, the chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on media to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode said the love for special students by the present administration could not be quantified hence the visits to make them feel a sense of belonging.
Mr Oyebode however disclosed that relevant ministries and government agencies were working in their relentless effort to ensure that issues affecting the well-being of the special students in the state are well attended to.
Mr Oyebode added that the last visit to the special schools by the Governorp was during his last birthday about few months ago saying that such would continue to bring succor to the students.
In their separate responses, School Principals of the special schools, Mr Rasak Salami, Mrs Temitope Adu and Mrs Bola Amogbonjaye appreciated the government gesture saying that such had put smiles on the faces of the students.
