Thirteen members of the Ondo state House of Assembly have passed a vote of no-confidence on the Speaker, Right Honourable Olamide Oladiji.
This followed the declaration by the Speaker that the House was fully in support of the ambition of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to contest the elections billed for November this year.
In a statement by the 13 members, they said the house had not deliberated on the governorship ambition of any of the several aspirants, not to talk of agreeing to support any of them.
They said the Speaker had no legal authority to speak or pledge support for any aspirant on behalf of the House without explicit consent of members.
The 13 members accused the Speaker of false declaration and misrepresentation of the House and said he had brought the House into disrepute, with attendant loss of confidence in his leadership.
The State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa had on Tuesday, 12th March, 2024 declared his intention to contest the Governorship Election coming up later in the year.
In his goodwill message, Speaker of the Assembly, Right Honourable Oladiji decleared the support of the House for the Governor and went as far as assuring him of victory, both in the primaries on April 24 and the main election in November.
