Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has constituted a committee to look into the creation of Local Councils Development Areas in the state.
A statement by his chief press secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode says this is to bring government nearer to the people and ensure more rapid development in the rural areas in the state.
According to the statement, the chairman of the committee is Mr. Segun Oluwole while MrsvShola GBENGA- Igotun is the Secretary.
Members of the committee are, Dr. Femi Akinola, Mr. Victor Akinola, Mrs. Sade Daramola, Mr. Joseph Olaito and Mrs Emily Fagesi
The rest are, Mr. Remi Obaparusi, representatives of Ministries of Justice, Local Government Affairs, Finance and Economic Development, Association of Local Government of Nigeria in Ekiti State ad Ekiti state Council of Traditional Rulers.
The committee’s has three terms of reference to set before it.
Part of the terms of f reference is to review the Local Government Development Council Law, Ekiti State 2014 and make recommendations on its relevance in view of current legal developments in Ekiti State
It will also consult extensively with the communities where LCDAs secretariats were created by the Local Government Development Council Law, Ekiti State 2014 and make recommendations on their current economic viability and suitability with a view to ensuring uniformity, equity, fairness across the Local Government Areas
The committee will equally recommend to the State Government practical steps for the creation of Local Council Development Areas out of the existing 16 Local Government Areas in Ekiti State .
It has three months to submit its report to the Governor.
