Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the renovation of the Akure Township stadium, also called Ondo State Sports Complex.
This was one of the decisions taken at this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Governor.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, who briefed journalists after the Council meeting, said the rehabilitation of the Akure township stadium was long overdue.
Yusuf-Ogunleye explained that the renovation would feature the upgrading of major facilities including the main bowl and football pitch, basketball courts and swimming pool.
He said the upgrade would lift the stadium to meet international standards thereby making it a venue capable of hosting significant events.
