GBV laws are not leaving with me-Erelu Fayemi

Outgoing wife of Ekiti State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi says Gender Based laws will continue to be in force even after the end of this present administration.

She stated this in Ado Ekiti during a valedictory session by the management Committee of Gender Based Violence in the state.

Erelu Fayemi appealed to residents of the state to wary of wife battery, child labour, assault against women and other things that could affect the wellbeing of female gender in the society.

“Ekiti is now known across Nigeria and beyond for its effort against Gender Based Violence. Under my watch the state has achieved a lot of things, for example, we ensure that all stakeholders are aware of GBV laws while is now a common saying across communities that anyone who raises his hand against a women, Erelu will have something to say about it” she said.

The Governor’s wife observed that a lot of things had been achieved during the period of these this administration which included, GBV survival assault referral centre, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital Ado Ekiti, Sexual Assualt Referral Centres at Ikole and Ikere Specialist Hospitals and Transit home for girls and Women in Distress.

She gave assurance that the incoming wife of Ekiti State Governor Elect Dr Olayemi Oyebanji would continue where the present administration end its work on Gender Based laws.

Responding to the wife of Ekiti State Governor Elect Dr Olayemi Oyebanji appreciated the outgoing governor’s wife and pleadged her readiness to use all necessary machineries to protect the interest of women and Girl child.

She however sought the cooperation of Gender Based Violence management Committee on implementation of the existing laws.

The meeting featured presentation of gifts to Erelu Bisi Fayemi by members of the GBV management committee.
