FUOYE Women in Academics celebrates Women’s day, advises female students on decency.

Female folk, most especially the younger ones have been advised to embrace decency, purpose driven goals and Godliness in order not to fall victim of sexual assault.

A resource person, Dr. Olutoyin Fajobi gave the advice while delivering a lecture at a talk organised by the National Association of Women in Academics, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE chapter in commemoration of 2021 Women’s day held at the University Campus.

Dr. Fajobi who is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Education in the University explained that the female child must be decent, dignify themselves and allow the fear of God to guide their lives.

She however urged them to be bold to report any case of sexual harassment to the appropriate authorities.

In her welcome address, the President, National Association of Women in Academics, FUOYE Chapter, Professor Sylvia Uzochukwu said the purpose of the talk was to teach the female students how to cope with their academic careers successfully.

Professor Uzochukwu noted that the Association had appointed mentors in all Faculties to monitor and advice female students on regular basis.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abayomi Fasina, represented by the Dean, Post Graduate School, Professor Mojisola Oyarekua promised to make the institution conducive for students, most especially the females, for them to be focused and face their studies.

Professor Fasina said a telephone number had been dedicated to report any case of sexual harassment against any female student.

The National Association of Women in Academics, FUOYE later paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fasina in his office where the President, Professor Sylvia Uzochukwu congratulated him on his new appointment and called for inclusion of more women into key positions.

Professor Uzochukwu also called for building of female hostels on campus to reduce the rate at which female students are being raped off campus.
