FRSC COMMENCES EMBER MONTH CAMPAIGN IN EKITI

The Federal Road FRSC in Ekiti state has commenced its ember month campaign with an appeal to road users to be calm and observe all
traffic rules.

The sector Commandant Mrs Elizabeth Akinlade said in Ado Ekiti that the motive was to reduce incessant cases of accident on roads.

The officials of the corps led by it commandant had early in the morning commenced a road show with a slogan “kill your speed Don’t kill yourself”.

The officials distributed fliers with educative pictures and inscriptions to discourage commercial drivers from overloading, high speed, use of phone while driving, wrongful overtaken among other.

Mrs Akinlade said this was for the benefit of road users owing to the fact that there would be increase in numbers of traffic on highways later in the year.

The corps commandant however said the campaign would go a long way to reduce the spate of accident and consequently save live of commuters.
She explained that few motorists booked for various offences during the campaign would be sensitized against further contravention of traffic rules.

While some commercial motorists expressed dissatisfaction with the apprehension of their members despite the fact that they violate traffic rules, others agreed that the campaign was in the interest of road users.
