Minister of Education, professor Tahir Mamman says Federal Government is now awaiting report of the panel set up to prob certificate racketeering and private institution in the country.
Speaking at the first quarterly citizens engagement in Abuja, professor Mamman said once the panel submit it's report, individual with fake certificate will be tracked and apprehended by security agencies.
Recently, the panel invited memoranda from the public while some of its members visited several institutions in Benin Republic and Togo.
The Federal Government decided to set up an inter-ministerial investigative committee to probe activities of certificate racketeers following an investigative report published by a Nigeria journalist.
The jornalist, Umar Audu had reported how he obtained a degree within six weeks in neighboring Benin Republic and then proceeded to embark on youth service in Nigeria.
It was the report that lead to the decision by the Nigeria government to ban accredited and evaluation of degrees from some West African countries including Benin-Republic, Togo and Ghana,as well as setting up a committee on the issue .
The committee was also saddled with investigating Nigeria private universities established in the last 15years.
