Nigerians have been charged to inculcate in their children the culture of peace to check the prevalence of insecurity bedevilling the country.
The wife of Ekiti State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi gave the charge in Ado Ekiti at an inter religious prayer organised for peace and security of Nigeria.
She explained that more of the teaching needed to be done by parents most especially mothers to reduce in youths the tendencies of banditry, cultism, kidnapping, ritual killings among others
According to the governors wife, African countries like Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, serial Leone among others that have been affected by war would never pray again for such owing to it devastating implications.
“It is only God that can help in this nation, that is why the wives of all governors in Nigeria evaluated the situation of the country and resolved that this week should be set aside for prayer of peace and security in different states, she added.
Erelu Fayemi appealed to youths most especially those fueling crisis to have a rethink of their actions in order to engender a society free of acrimony.
Earlier in a welcome charge, an official of the Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria, Ikere Local Government, Mrs Ganiyat Ganiyu maintained that women remained agents of change in every home by taking good care and monitoring of their children.
She identified that poor parental upbringing had contributed a lot to societal ills and subsequently accounted for assassination, arson, blood shed, kidnapping and banditry.
Also, in an exhortation a woman cleric, pastor Titi Olaofe reminded the gathering to fear God in all their dealings as indicated by holy bible and Qur’an saying such remained a pivotal means of reducing crime rate in Nigeria.
She stressed the need for fervent prayer for Nigeria leaders instead of course so as to ensure the prosperity, peace and development of the country.
The inter religious prayer which attracted women political leaders in Ekiti State also featured prayers, praises, Exhortation among others both in Islam and Christian doctrine.
