About 50milliion Naira worth of empowerment equipment have been distributed to widows and vulnerable women across sixteen local government areas of Ekiti state.
Distributing the items in Aramoko, ikere and Ido Ekiti Wife of the state Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi said the exercise were carried out in phases.
The items which included drier, sowing machines, generators, freezers, grinding machine and food items were shared among selected one hundred people.
Erelu fayemi was of the opinion that if women were engaged in profitable ventures, it would be easy for them to take good care of their children and reduce the huge burden on their husbands and relatives.
She maintained that any nation that would experience sustainabile growth must empower its women through vocations to promote commerce and provide means of livelihood.
The wife of the governor charged political office holders to sponsor job seekers in their respective areas to vocational centres established by government in order to make them self reliant.
Earlier the commissioner for Women affairs and social development, Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade charge the beneficiaries not to indulge in indolence but make judicious use of items collected.
Alhaja ogunlade cautioned them against the sale of the empowerment items in order to justify the purpose of the exercise and reduce poverty among them.
Beneficiaries including Mrs Bosede oloruntoba and Mrs omolara Adeleye appreciated the gesture and promised to continue to support the present administration.
