EKSG dredges Rivers Elemi, Ofin as Communities get reprieve from flooding.

The age long flooding challenge facing residents of Boluwaduro, Onala and Balemo communities in Ado Ekiti seems to have come to an end as the State government, through State Environmental Protection Agency have dredged Rivers Elemi and Ofin located in the area.

The rivers always sack members of the communities during the rainny season as most of them normally vacate their residences during the period.

Speaking with newsmen when the State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Ajisafe Aluko led other officials of the ministry to the area, Chairman of Boluwaduro Community, Ado Ekiti, Dr David Akindele and his counterpart in Onala, Mr Tijani Adebayo commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for deeming it fit to dredge the rivers, saying such would put an end to annual flooding in the communities.

Like Oliver Twist, the residents equally used the opportunity to appeal to Governor Oyebanji to assist in installing street lights and construction of drainages to give room for free flow of water to the rivers.

In an interview, the State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Ajisafe Aluko said the present administration embarked on the dredging to put an end to flooding in the areas, saying that of Ekiti South West would continue, following the completion of such project in Ado.

It could be recalled that before the present administration assumed office, many lives and property had been lost to flooding that used to affect residents of Balemo, Onala and Boluwaduro in Ado Ekiti.
