EKSG Challenges Health, Education Institutions On Revenue Generation.

Authorities of Education and health institutions in Ekiti State have been challenged to fashion out ways to generate more revenue to reduce over dependent on monthly subvention from govt.

Ekiti State Governor kayode Fayemi gave the directive in Ado Ekiti, while addressing stakeholders on the financial status of the state.

Governor Fayemi said the Institutions should be able to finance themselves without assistance as govt would no longer be able to pay thier full subvention as a result of economic challenge.

He said it was disheartening that the findings of an independent firm engaged by government to audit the finances of Eksu from 2017 till date revealed that the students owed over four billion naira as balance of payment of school fee.

The Governor criticised the management of the school for not doing enough to get the money from the students which could be used to attend to staff welfares and expended on infrastructure and development projects in the university.

“Government cannot bear the burden again, the heads of schools should be more aggressive and do the needful, we have economic challenge which will affect all sectors, government will continue to look inwards”

“I found out that EkSU is one of the university that pay better salary to its staffers compared to neighbouring states who even have zero subvention from there states, so it will no longer be business as usual”

The Governor equally told the institutions to reduce their current expenses to enable them to cope with the challenges ahead.
