Ekiti Workers Elated Over Oyebanji’s Surprise Visit to His Deputy, Afuye ….Afuye describes action hallmark of good leadership, humility

In extreme show of respect and humility, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, yesterday, paid a surprise visit to his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, in her office in Ado Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji about 1.30pm, on Monday , paid a working visit to the Deputy Governor’s office, situated within the precinct of the Governor’s office, which got many civil servants stunned.

The Ekiti’s number one citizen, was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habitat Adubiaro, the Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede and hordes of special aides .

The visit caught the staff of the deputy governor’s office and nearby workers by surprise, which forced them to troop out to catch a glimpse of the governor, and also hailed him for such extreme display of humility.

Afuye, had described as hallmark of humility and outstanding leadership comportment, the visit of his principal, Governor Biodun Oyebanji to her office, on Monday.

The Deputy Governor, in her response to the visit through a statement by her Media Aide, Victor Ogunje, commended her principal for displaying such a leadership quality.

Mrs Afuye said such character could only be exhibited by a leader, who has team-playing spirit, mutual respect comportment and sense of dignity in leadership.

She said this would rededicate her to serve the state more zealously and committedly.

Mrs Afuye added that the visit was a strong testimony that Governor Oyebanji is truly a man of the people.

“I was surprised when I heard that Mr Governor was on his way to my office. I had always known Governor Oyebanji to be a team player and he had just exhibited that today.

“I want all my staff to take a cue from Mr. Governor. All of us must work together as a team. Don’t disparage or underrate anyone, let there be spirit of mutual respect.

“We should be ready to work with all our staff both low and high and show them immsense respect. This is part of the ways to get the best out of them, for more productivity and for the good of Ekiti citizens”, the Deputy Governor said.
