In it’s quest to familiarize with the athletes and officials who represented Ekiti state in recent sports at the the just concluded National sports festival in Edo State,the Sports writers Association of Nigeria,SWAN,Ekiti state chapter will on Wednesday host the team at the Swan Roundtable.
Speaking in Ado, Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,SWAN,Ekiti State chapter,Qazeem Oladapo said there was the need for stakeholders,people in positions of authority, philanthropist and especially the government at state and local government levels to encourage sport men and women in the state by hosting and supporting them financially through scholarships to keep them representing the state at future national sporting competitions.
He said it was unfortunate that several Ekiti born athletes are now proudly representing and winning laurels for other states on the ground that enough encouragement was not coming from thier states adding that SWAN Roundtable will create a platform to interface with the coaches and athletes on how to nope out such development in the bud.
Mr Oladapo explained that the hosting would avail members of the Association the opportunity to meet with all the medalists in different sports and their coaches and also reiterate it’s commitment towards sport development in the state through consistent reportage of local sports through available social and conventional media platforms.
The SWAN Chairman said the event would hold at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium by twelve noon.
