The Ekiti State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of the monthly salary accrue to the Obasaoye of Isaoye Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Olajide in Moba Local government area of the state.
The Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi gave the order at a peace meeting held in Ado Ekiti following Oba Olajide’s abandonment of the traditional duties apart from ten heavy allegations levelled against him since 2018 and play than on them due to the present administration’s belief in bringing back the moral values and total respect to the traditional institution.
Some of the allegations levelled against the Obasaoye of Isaoye since 2018 include, embezzling the Isaoye Ekiti money,destruction of Ifa, Ogun worship centres and other Traditional signs, indiscriminate arrest of Chiefs and Residents of Isaoye Ekiti as well as constituting threat to the peace of the community.
Otunba Egbeyemi who expressed regret to the fact that he had been trying to defend and protect the Obasaoye from being dethroned since 2018, maintained that the Monarch should go and reach a common ground with the people of his community.
The Deputy Governor that any Oba or chief who failed to perform the traditional duties for which he was installed and being paid, should not be giving privilege to enjoy whatever benefits accrued to the office.
Otunba Egbeyemi also ordered that the Eyebasa (dmrem) of Isaoye Ekiti, High Chief Abiola Adeyeye should go and perform her traditional festival and celebration of her coronation since she had been installed even before the enthronement of the traditional ruler.
The Ekiti State Governor however warned the people of Isaoye Ekiti not to dethrone the traditional ruler, Obasaoye of Isaoye Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Olajide as earlier gathered by the intelligence reports that Chiefs of the Community were planning to dethrone the Monarch.
He said that the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi would not tolerate any individual or group trying to unleash terror or cause disaffections in Ekiti.
Otunba Egbeyemi also emphasized that any resident of Isaoye-Ekiti caught fometing trouble would be made to face the wrath of laws, adding that peace remained the Hallmark of meaningful progress.
Earlier, the aggreived Chiefs, led by Obaisa of Isaoye Ekiti, High Joseph Ogidi alledged that Oba Olajide who ascended the throne in 2017 had abandoned the community since the last peace meeting presided by the Deputy Governor on 17th November, 2018, where it was resolved that he should stay with his people.
In his response, the Obasaoye of Isaoye Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Olajide who is a police officer, claimed that the people denied him access to the town, due to the fear of the unknown.
