The Deputy Chief of Staff to the government of Ekiti State Mr Victor Adeniyi has hailed the judgement of the Election Petitions Tribunal which upheld the victory of Biodun Oyebanji as Governor.
The Tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti had on Thursday dismissed the case instituted by the Social Democratic Party SDP and its candidate, Chief Segun Oni against the victory of Biodun Oyebanji as the Governor of the State on the account that it lacked merit.
During an interactive session with the press in his office, Mr Victor Adeniyi noted that the judgement met the expectations of the good people of Ekiti State who enthusiastically voted for Oyebanji during the most peaceful Governorship Election ever in the history of the 26 years old state.
Mr Adeniyi said the common people of the state are the real beneficiaries of the victory as it will now afford the governor to settle down for proper governance.
“The tribunal verdict has put an end to strife, legal battles, political tension, inter party rivalry and all forms of such distractions. The governor and the governing party in the state will now be able to put all mights and resources together to work for the people on who’s mandate they stand”, he said.
The Ikere Ekiti politician urged the SDP Candidate, Chief Segun Oni to put his statesmanship to bear in the spirit of a good sportsman and join hands with Governor Oyebanji to move the state forward just like other prominent opposition leaders in the state have done.
The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor noted that the verdict was well deserved and a true reflection of the expectation of the good people of the state judging from the aura of celebration that enveloped the state when the judgement was pronounced.
He congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief Mrs Monisade Afuye for the victory and urged them to continue with their good works and never give room for any further distraction.
