EKITI NMA laments brain drain in health sector …seeks improved welfare for members

Nigeria Medical Association N.M.A in Ekiti State, Dr Babatunde Rosiji has called improved welfare of personnel working in government medical hospitals to check brain drain in the sector.

Dr Rosiji said during a session with EKITI State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji in Ado EKITI that additional recruitments of health personnel was needed at the grassroots to assist in giving qualitative health care services to the people.

He noted that the statistics of medical doctors and other health professionals had reduced in the state due to tempted offers in foreign countries.

The EKITI N.M.A chairman assured the Governor of the Association’s support to ensure that the people felt government impact by bringing quality health care nearer to the electorate.

In a response Governor Oyebanji said he was aware of ranging issues bedeviling the health sector especially the reduction of health personnel who left for greener pastures.

Governor Oyebanji informed them that a roadmap towards ensuring improve health care service delivery would be unveiled soon.

He thanked the medical doctors for their contributions towards the realization of government and promised them of necessary support.
