Journalists assigned to cover this Saturday’s Governorship election in Ekiti State have been told to be security conscious in the course of monitoring the exercise.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ekiti State, Mr. Rotimi Ojomoyela gave the advice at NUJ Secretariat in Ado Ekiti at the commencement of the distribution of kits meant for the election to accredited journalists.
Mr. Ojomoyela implored men of the pen profession not to endanger their lives, admonishing them to move together in groups, while also urging to them to stick to the ethics of the profession, and shun fake news.
He said a task force had been constituted to apprehend any fake journalist found in the state during the election.
Over 500 journalists across Nigeria applied online to cover the Ekiti State Governorship election billed for this Saturday.
