Ekiti Govt pacifies aggrieved communities over new LCDA

The Ekiti State government has advised the people of Ikoro and Ipoti communities in Ijero shun violence and embrace peace over the crisis on the location of the headquarters of the newly created Irede Local Council Development Area, LCDA.

Chief of Staff to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Mr Biodun Omoleye gave the advice on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti at a peace meeting held at the governor’s office with the monarchs and chiefs from the two communities.

He assured the aggrieved communities that the state government would address their agitations and thereafter make a fair decision on it.

Mr. Omoleye who noted that resorting to violence would not bring the desired results, charged them to embrace dialogue in pressing home their agitation.

He told gathering that government would investigate all the issues raised by both communities, urging them to be law abiding pending when the matter would be resolved.

in their remarks, the communities, through their spokespersons, promised to abide by the decision of the government on the headquarters of the new council.

People of Ipoti Ekiti had last Saturday took to the streets to protest against the alleged plan by the state government to move the Headquarters of Irede Local Council Development Area from the town to Ikoro Ekiti.
