Local government chairmen in Ekiti state have been charged to ensure transparency in the allocation of market stores built in neighborhood markets across the state.
The wife of the Governor Erelu bisi fayemi stated this at the inauguration of the market in Aramoko and ido Ekiti.
She said preferencial treatment should not be a yardstick for store allocation but rather make sure that the beneficiaries merited the conditions for allocation.
Erelu fayemi said the motive of the neighborhood markets was to check street trading and risk involved in displaying good on major roads.
The Governors wife therefore charged market women to ensure maintenance culture and shun all acts that could cause damage to the facilities in the market.
Commissioner for local government Affairs, professor Adio Folayan thanked the present administration for keeping to its electioneering promises of providing the market for traders.
