Ekiti State Environmental Health and Sanitation Agency wants residents of the state to key into house-to-house waste collection policy of the government to check indiscriminate dumping of refuse on unauthorised places.
Director of the Agency, Mr Tunde Balogun told Radio Nigeria Progress FM in Ado-Ekiti that the agency was ready to ensure cleanliness among the people.
He advised residents to register with Waste Management Authority, in order to secure arrangements for collection of their waste directly from various homes.
Mr. Balogun said government had partnered private waste collectors to ensure that refuse were adequately taken to authorized dump sites.
Meanwhile, there had been agitations by members of the public that the private waste collectors had disappeared from the streets, which gave rise to the dumping of waste on the median.
The residents berated the attitude of the Waste Management Authority over arrest of the people who dump refuse by the roadside owing to the non-availability of communal bins.
