Ekiti Government To Engage Youths Through Innovation, Digital Skills

EKiti State government says it will continue to encourage youths to acquire various innovation in creative and digital skills to make them relevant in the society.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji stated this at the launching of nine hundred thousand dollars Innovation Facility Grants under the World Bank and Federal Government assisted project.

Governor Oyebanji explained that the scheme was a special intervention grant to accelerate innovation in digital skills and development among youths.

The Governor also said it was time to prioritize human capital development through the acquisition of necessary skills to make the youths competitive in the global markets.

He lauded the federal government and World Bank for their consistent investments in human capital programmes, stressing that the establishment of Ekiti Knowledge Zone would be an advantage to the scheme.

Earlier, the state Co-ordinator of the project, Mrs Abimbola Adeyemi said there would be special considerations for the vulnerable and young women to ensure their inclusion in the scheme.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye stressed that the 900,000 dollars earmarked for the project would be judiciously expended.
