EKITI GOVERNMENT RESTATES COMMITMENT TO SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Ekiti State Government has promised to continue to invest in sporting activities in the state just as it commended the Ekiti State All Stars International for its giant strides towards the growth and development of sporting activities in the state.

State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Michael Awopetu gave the commendation while unveiling a set of jersey donated to the association by one of its members who is also an aide to Governor Kayode Fayemi Star Demola Obanise.

Mr Awopetu described members of the All Stars International as people of positive minds who have continued to work in line with the agenda of Governor Kayode Fayemi towards repositioning sporting activities in the state.

According to him, sports has become a veritable means to create employment for youths and develop the state’s economy hence the need for the need for the huge investment of government in the sector.

He appreciated the team for the various contributions to the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium such as provision of mowers and support for the Ekiti United both financially and morally.

In his remark, the president of the All Stars International, Dr Sola Afolayan appreciated the commissioner for using his good office to permit the association to return to the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium after its renovation with a promise that the association would continue to serve as good example for upcoming athletes.

He commended one of the leaders of the team, Chief Olu Oloworemo for
his personal sacrifices towards the development of the association.

It was gathered that a novelty match was played between the Senior and Young team to commemorate the ceremony.

During the match, the young team defeated the senior team by five goals to one.
