Ekiti Government Recruits New Secondary School Teachers, as Governor Fayemi Advises Them on Diligence.

Newly recruited secondary school teachers in Ekiti state have been charged to place high premium on impacting moral values on their students in addition to academic responsibilities.

Governor Kayode Fayemi gave the charge on Monday while declaring open a three day induction course for the recruited teachers held at Saint Louis secondary school ikere Ekiti.

The Governor observed that the teachers were recruited based on their qualification and capability to mould children, urging them to be diligent and efficient in their places of engagements.

Governor Fayemi who identified education as the first leg in the knowledge economy pillar of his administration said aside abolishing the payment of levies, government also made education compulsory for pupils at both primary and secondary levels.

Earlier, the Chairman Ekiti state Teaching Service Commission, Chief Babatunde Abegunde disclosed that the number of the newly recruited teachers made a 9% increase in the current stock of teachers in the State and 3% of the total applicants for the teaching job.

He commended the commitment of government for not only raising quality and standard of teaching in the State but for demonstrating strong quest to restoring education values in the state.

Some of the teachers were of the view that the induction would prepare them for the task ahead in the teaching profession.

The newly inducted teachers were part of the 20 thousand candidates that jostled for employment into the State teaching Service Commission as well as those who transferred their service from other cadres to the Commission.
