Ekiti State Government has purchased Free JAMB E-registration PINs for about two thousand five hundred students seeking admission into various Tertiary institutions in the country.
At the distribution of the PINs to some of the beneficiaries in Ado Ekiti, the wife of the State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi said the programme was meant to assist the qualified indigenes who already posses the requisite of at least six credit passes in relevant subjects at not more than one sitting.
“It is an assurance that the present administration will no leave any stone unturned in preparing the future leaders for challenges ahead” She explained
“This singular act, if effectively utilized will permanently liberate the candidates from the shackles of ignorance, abject poverty and backwardness in life”.
The wife of the Governor urged parents to take advantage of the gesture by encouraging their children to partake in the exercise as it would relief them of financial burden of purchasing the JAMB pin.
Erelu Fayemi also asked the students never to take the opportunity for granted due to the fact that it was free.
The Governor’s wife announced that government had committed Seventeen Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira to purchase the JAMB PIN to the point of checking the result.
The State Commissioner For Education, Mrs Bimpe Aderiye who was represented by the special Adviser Board for Technical and Girl child Education, professor Francisca Aladejana noted that the gesture was enough to inspire the beneficiaries towards attaining greatness.
She added that government’s expectation from the beneficiaries was good result emanating from scholarship and good comportment.
Earlier a Board member of Adults Education Mrs Laolu Adejuwon who said the programme was specifically designed for vulnerable students, urged beneficiaries not to engage in malpractices that could jeopardy their future.
