Ekiti State Government has cautioned members of the public, especially online newspapers, bloggers and publishing companies against unauthorised use of the state’s official logo.
Similarly, the state government dissociates itself from and condemns recent use of the state logo by some online media outfits to illustrate defamatory news reports, thereby making such reports appear as official position of government.
The special adviser to the Governor on media and strategy Mr Yinka Oyebode urged of the public, particularly online publishers to note that Ekiti State logo remains the property of the state government and backed by law.
Mr Oyebode said foor the purpose of clarification, the Ekiti State logo can only be used by authorised officials and on official documents.
He noted that any illegal, unauthorised and indiscriminate use of the logo was a violation of the law and the state would not hesitate in applying relevant laws to deal with unauthorised users.
