Two new sexual Assault Referrer centers, SARC, have been inugurated in Ekiti State to ensure the protection of victim’s right and dignity.
Apart from, Moremi referer centre in Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, the new ones are located at ikole and ikere- Ekiti specialist hospitals.
Performing the inauguration, wife of Ekiti State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi emphasised the need for community dwellers to always expose violators of sexual Assault laws no matter how highly placed.
The Governor’s wife reteriated zero tolerance for Gender Based violence most especially sexual Assault and gave assuarace that anyone found culpable would be severely punished.
She explained that the centres were established to offer free services for Gender Based Violence survivors in the area of medical assistance, legal, psychological, law enforcement among others.
In their remarks, the commissioner for Health and Human services, Dr Oyebanji Filani and his counterpart in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Dr Adebimpe Aderiye said the the centres would serve the senatorial districts where they were located noting that trumitized students were adequately provided for in the arrangement of the facilities.
Also the State coordinator, Sexual Assualt Referer centres, Mrs Rita ilevbare charged staff of the clinics to see their duties as call to National service which require due diligence, empathy, utmost confidentiality and at times personal financial cost.
She appealed to security agencies to support the functionalities of these clinics to achieve success.
The event attracted some dignitaries which included Deputy Governor Elect, chief Monisade Afuye, Wife of Ekiti state Governor Elect Dr Olayemi Oyebanji among others.
