Ekiti Election: DIG Kokumo announces restriction of movement

The Deputy Inspector General of police coordinating Ekiti Governorship election, Mr Johnson Kokumo says all polling units and every part of the state will be properly secured during the exercise billed for Saturday’s.

Mr Kokomu who was addressing Newsmen in Ado Ekiti on the arrangements put in place by security agencies to ensure peaceful poll, uged those who had nothing to do in Ekiti to steer clear of the state.

He announced that there would be restriction of movement on Saturday from six in the morning to five in the evening, urging residents to abide by the order.

He ordered the withdrawal of Policemen attached to VIPs calling on other security agencies like DSS, NSCDC to do same.

Mr Kokumo said the deployment of about twenty thousand policemen for the Election was not to intimidate residents but to ensure peace.

The DIG however warned officers on Election duty again misconduct especially misuse of fire, saying that armed officers would not be deployed at polling booths.

Mr Kokomu pointed out that soldiers would mount Ekiti borders with its neighbouring states.
