Ekiti Assembly passes 4 Executive bills, Sanctions Former GM

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed two Executive bills and adopted four Committee reports.

The bills passed at plenary on Tuesday are the Ekiti State Criminal law 2021 and Ekiti State Victim Charter Bill 2021.

The passage of the bills followed the presentation of reports of the House  Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters saddled with the responsibilities of working on the bills.

The  Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Tajudeen Akingbolu  presented his Committee reports on the two bills and  were examined clause by clause and unanimously passed by the lawmakers.

Four Committee reports were also adopted as a working documents of the House at the plenary by the lawmakers.

Also the house recommended that
the sum of over five million naira be refunded to the state government’s coffers by a former general manager of  the State Housing Corporation, Barr. Babasoji Awe.

The decision of the house was sequel to the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Public Accounts, chaired by Hon. Akin Oso representing Ido /Osi II as a working document.

The committee had been assigned by the house to investigate a petition written by Barrister Babasoji Awe over alleged injustice against him by the state Auditor General.

However, while presenting his report at the plenary on Tuesday, chairman House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Akin Oso representing Ido /Osi II.
said the committee was able to ascertain that Barrister Awe abused his office as alleged in the report of the state Auditor General.

The Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Akin Oso representing Ido /Osi II, said the recommendation was to check corruption in the system.

The lawmakers at the plenary also confirmed the appointment of Barrister Olumuagun Iyanu Deborah as a Member of the Ekiti State Audit Service Commission.
