Large number of PDP members in Ekiti State on Thursday trooped out to show support and solidarity to one of the governorship aspirants, Hon. Wale Aribisala who declared intention to contest the governorship seat in the platform of the party.
Afe Babalola Event Centre at Opopogboro Ado Ekiti, venue of the programme was filled to capacity with members of the Peoples Democratic Party across the sixteen Local governments of Ekiti State.
The party members in their branded uniform danced and sang to express their support for Hon. Wale Aribisala.
In an interview, some of the party members who graced the occasion across the sixteen local Governments of Ekiti State declared support for Hon. Wale Aribisala saying he had what it takes to govern the state.
During the declaration and a public lecture in Ado Ekiti, Hon. Aribisala who represented Oye/Ikole local governments in the green chamber between 2007 and 2011 said his decision to contest the governorship position was to serve his people and provide good governance using his goodwill and expertise.
The PDP governorship aspirant solicited the support of members of the party during the forthcoming primary election saying only him can deliver the state for PDP based on his popularity and acceptability by people of the state.
He promised to carry all party members along while their needs would be catered for, if he eventually becomes the next governor of the state.
His words ” While serving at the House of Representatives, I was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the House on Millennium Development Goals and I facilitated the sum of three billion for Ekiti State, he said.
“I also carried out over forty five constituency projects such as construction of block of class rooms,motorised borehole, hand pump borehole, channelisation of flood proned communities.”
According to him, party members would be given due recognition as political appointment will be distributed equally.
He urged them to vote for him during the primary to make his dream for Ekiti state a reality.
Earlier, the Director General of Wale Aribisala Campaign Organization, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo noted that he is supporting Aribisala due to his performances when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
Chief Olu-Ojo said the wale Aribisala Campaign Organization had extended its reach to all the caucuses of the party including repositioning and Osoko political movement.
In his lecture, a lecturer with the Department of Institute of Peace, Security and Governance, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Dr Mike Omilusi noted that good government should be able to cater for the needs of the people through employment opportunities, good roads, free health care services, provision for aged and less privileged among others.
Dr Omonisi explained that any government that could not provide such should be regarded as bad government.
