As Muslim faithful mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has congratulated Ekiti Muslims and urged Nigerians to intensify prayers and support for unity and peace in the country.
Oyebanji in his goodwill messsge, said Eid-el-Kabir offers Muslims the opportunity to exemplify the virtues of piety, honesty, charity and generosity according to the life of Prophet Ibrahim and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
He said the current spate of insecurity in parts of the country calls urgent prayers for divine intervention. He called on Muslims to use the opportunity of the festive period to pray for everlasting peace in the country.
“Prophet Ibrahim, in whose honour Eid-el-Kabir became an annual celebration was known and reverred for his humility and faithfulness. He prayed and God answered him, the same God is still there to answer our prayer. I urge Nigerians to love one another and pray for peace as we celebrate.
The Governor- elect who said safety of lives and property in all parts of Ekiti State would be accorded top priority in his government, also called for prayers for the incoming administration.
