Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr Phillip Shaibu has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of betrayal.
Speaking during a live TV interview programme, Mr Shaibu said he felt betrayed that the Governor did not support his candidature for the Governorship election in the state, billed for later this year.
Shaibu said he was persuaded to take the Deputy Governorship position even though he was comfortable as a member of the House of Representatives at the time.
He revealed that it took him about one month to take the decision, which was primarily to add political value to Obaseki’s bid to become Governor.
The Edo State Deputy Governor claimed that Obaseki was not known and the party needed a young and vibrant politician who could help the party and Obaseki to win, a gap he was later persuaded to fill up.
Speaking further, Mr Shaibu said he contributed a lot to Obaseki’s electoral victory through his resources including money, structure, vehicles, goodwill, among others.
