Eda ile Community rejoices over release of abducted monarch

The kidnapped Eleda of Eda Ile Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government, Oba Benjamin Oso has been released by his abductors.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State command, Mr Sunday Abutu confirmed this to Radio Nigeria in Ado Ekiti.

Mr Abutu said the royal father was set free by his abductors late last night after he spent two days with the kidnappers.

The PPRO however said that he was not aware whether the monarch paid any money to facilitate his prompt release.

Oba Oso was kidnapped last Friday in the presence of his wife at their farm in Eda Ile Ekiti.

His abductors immediately reached out to the family and demanded twenty million naira ransom but it could not be confirmed if the money was paid.

About two months ago, the Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti in oye Local Government, Oba David Oyewumi was abducted in his palace and he was set free few days after.

Meanwhile, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Otun Ekiti, Mrs Yemisi Ijatuyi who was kidnapped last Saturday is still in the kidnappers’ den.

Families and friends of the victim have continued to make all efforts to secure her release.

The abductors were said to have earlier insisted on ten million naira ransom but it was later reduced to five million naira.

In the meantime, the people of Eda ile Ekiti have expressed happiness over the release of their abducted monarch by, Oba Benjamin Oso.

Radio Nigeria reporter who visited the community gathered that residents have been trooping to the palace to rejoice with the monarch.

Those who spoke under the condition of anonymity said it was worrisome that gunmen now extended their nefarious activities to monarchs.

They appealed to the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure adequate security across Ekiti state.
