Drugs Competition: NDLEA Disrupts Wedding, Arrest Groom, Others.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, in Katsina State have stormed a wedding party in a community known as Shola Quarters, over a drug abuse competition and arrested 25 youths who were taking part.The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA headquarters in Abuja, Femi Babafemi said on Sunday, the 10th of December, 2023 that the operatives swooped on the suspects while abusing all sorts of illicit substances mixed together in containers.Mr Babafemi said even though the groom, Musa Gwandi, who was alleged to have organised the drug competition was not arrested at the venue, he was later picked up at another location.The NDLEA Media man said investigation is already on-going into how the different brands of drugs were procured and their facilitators, while those found culpable would get charged to court.Giving an insight into other activities of the agency, Mr Babafemi said, a businessman, Augustine Emeka was arrested in Enugu in possession of 12 consignments of Cocaine, weighing over 17 kilogrammes.At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, a suspect, Prince Ifeanyi, who has been on the run over a seized 20kg of cannabis meant for export, was arrested.Also in Lagos, a Beninoise, Jamila Fatiu was arrested with 398 bottles of Codeine Cough Syrup, on her way to Seme border.In the meantime, the War Against Drug Abuse Advocacy Campaign of the NDLEA have continued in schools, markets, worship centres and other public places across the country.Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Retired Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Maria urged all officers to maintain the offensive against all drug-related activities and individuals across the country.
