The accident which occured on yesterday, according to an eye witness was as a result of brake failure.
The driver of the tanker and his motor boy were said to jumped out of the vehicle having noticed that there was nothing they could do to bring it to a halt.
No casualty was recorded but the tanker was totally burnt.
All efforts by the fire fighters and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to put the fire off proved abortive.
In the meantime, the Ekiti state Secretary General of Nigeria Union of Petroleum & Natural Gas workers NUPENG/ ELD;
Comrade Jinadu Isiaq Olaoluwa has advice the State government on the need to establish Tankers & Trailers’ park at major boundaries of the State to allow fatigue drivers to have rest & also an opportunity to check their vehicle parts.
Mr.Jinadu made the call during an interaction with Radio Nigeria reporter at the scene of the accident which occured at Akannasan, Iyin Ekiti.
According to him, the park will equally serve as a source of revenue for government.
The NUPENG scribe also used the medium to call on members not to relent in contributing their quotas to the development of the state through the prompt payment of necessary dues adding that anyone caught selling adulterated Oil products in the State.
