Political parties need to dissociate itself from governance before Nigeria’s democratic system can be more beneficial to all citizens.
This is the position of a sociologist, professor Christopher Oluwadare while featuring on political trend, a Radio Nigeria Progress FM interview programme.
Speaking on Political God fatherism, professor Oluwadare explained that political parties should not interfere in governance while elected politicians should try as much as possible to do away with party affairs so that the two institutions could perform their separate functions without fear or hinderances.
The Professor of sociology at Ekiti State University described as unfortunate, situations where political heads see themselves as leaders of party where they emerge, saying that such would not give room for political parties to field credible candidates except those produced by God fathers.
He therefore challenged political parties most especially the oppositions not to go into hiding after every election but monitor governance to ensure that people enjoy the dividend of democracy.
